The Sun gives us light and heat.

The Earth is a planet. Planets move around the Sun
Planets don't give light or heat.

The Earth moves in two different ways:rotation and revolution.
Have a look at these videos!

ROTATION is the movement of the Earth on its axis.

The Earth is always turning on its axis.
This movement is called ROTATION.
The Earth takes 24 hours (1 day) to complete one rotation.
This movement causes day and night.

It is day when the Earth is facing the Sun and it is night on the other side.

REVOLUTION is the movement of the Earth around the Sun.

The Earth moves around the Sun. This movement is called REVOLUTION.
The Earth takes 365 days (1 year) to complete one revolution around the Sun.
This movement causes the seasons.

There are twelve months in a year and four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
